In Praise of My Neighbors

I saw something that did my heart good: a joint Bush - Kerry rally, with campaign signs, American flags and a big signs that said, "United We Stand -- Stop the Hate".

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

On Tuesday you mentioned your neighbors bi-partisan unity party. At least one of
their candidates probably will win. I just hope America isn't the big loser.

It was cool and overcast with ankle deep drifts of crisp and damp yellow and
gold leaves. Voting is both an obiligation and a privelege but nature often
conspires to make it an ordeal as well. Oh well, this year it didn't rain and I
got a parking spot within half a block. There was a few minutes wait - not bad.
I heard a worker mention that every voting device in town was in use, and he was
running low on ballots, and the box was full and needed emptying or changing or
whatever they do, but things went smoothly for me. The people ahead of me were
greeted warmly as first time voters. I hope someone told them that in this
country they don't HAVE to vote for the government.

On my "things to do today" list:
Buy gas, get fuses, replace President. check.

I guess I'll find out how it turned out tomorrow, or when the last absentee
ballot is counted, or when the recounts are over, or when the supreme court says
so, or doomsday. Whatever.

I'm so glad it's over.

Now will someone please get us the fuck out of Iraq?

On the morning news today (in the UK), they're saying it all depends on Ohio. Good news for Florida at least.

Apparently there are a bunch of "provisional" votes and "absentee" votes that may take weeks to be counted.

I'm booking my seat in the Supreme Court now...
